Review: Remembrance by Michelle Madow

Book Name: Remembrance by Michelle Madow
Genre: YA PNR
Rating: 3 / 5 - ***

What I thought about the Book:

Well, this was an okay read. Not very impressionable, which should explain my very brief review. No one stands out, story is your regular re-incarnation love story and not even a villan to make you sit at the end of your seat.
As many people commented before, the story does resemble "Eternal Ones", "Fallen" or anyother reincarnation books. Like eternal ones hero and heroin are reincarnated and fall for each other right away and hero remembers the past life already when MC has no clue.
Like in Fallen hero avoids the MC for her own good, though he doesn't quite flip her off when he meets her. But he is a jerk to her and somehow she still likes him (atleast she didn't get a finger right?)
Anyway I really don't have anything else to say about the story. Wish there was atleast some drama or action, but there's none. Regular boy meets girl story with incarnation twist and some misunderstanding thrown in towards the end and all ends well.
You could give it a try if you are bored to death and need something to read...why not.

*spoilers*

I didn't like this book much, most of itI agree was slow and hit or miss until the last two or three chapters which I really disliked. The writing style was ok, but there were places where the author's writing choices bothered me - i.e. characters are speaking in French and Madow just uses italicized English, is it that hard to get a few sentences translated into French and add some English paraphrasing/explanations afterwards? Maybe it's just me though.

Also, the choice to leave things open (for a possible sequel?) destroyed the ending and turns the somewhat bland MC into a really unlikable **&^$%. Betray best friend? Check. Ditch steady BF for new guy with problems? Check. I understand the losing the possessive/jerk BF plot is a cliche, but the way Madow avoids it turns the MC into a ... yeah, I don't like endings with the happy couple and everyone else in the crapper.

Yeah I know what you mean. It didn't bother me as much but what annoyed me was not having any action. Even the climax was just a mis-understanding. It feels a bit anti-climactic. This mysterious guy walks in and doesn't tell you anything though he keeps dropping hints, but when he does reveal what  he was hiding, it wasn't much and then there's this whole drama of I-want-to-stay-away-but-can't and after all that, you'd think there is some huge revelation that is going to make some difference, but noooo just a mis-understanding that takes about 2 pages to fix. It just feels like a let down, after the whole build up.
I mean how cheesy is that, that whole story repeats in the next life? Even the names of the characters start with same alphabet like James - Jeremy, Catherine - Chelsea. Weird how the whole book is told, but theres no mention of main character's past life names though.

Completely agree with all of the above. I would not recommend this to anyone except to look at the pretty cover :)
