Name of the book: City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating (out of 5):4.5
Basic Intro:
The first book of the original trilogy, City of Bones introduces us to a whole new world which exists along with ours where demons keep trying to enter and destroy our world and repelled by nephilim, who call themselves shadowhunter. They exist along with vampires, werewolves, warlocks and fae. The main female character is Clarissa Fray, an ordinary girl with an extra-strict single mother, who lives in her ordinary world until she accidentally sees some armed people no one else could and is soon thrust into a dangerous world in which she always belonged but never knew about. When her mother goes missing, she must turn for help and uncover dangerous secrets of the world and... her own past.
The male main character is Jace Wayland, a shadowhunter-in-training. A witness of his own father's death, Jace has been living with the Lightwoods' family for some years when he meets Clarissa and is intrigued by her. While helping Clary get her mother back and stop the rise of an evil shadowhunter, Valentine, he must face his own past as they both both uncover the lies which have shaped their lives.

Review:
The book is an absolute genius and introduces us to a whole new world without losing its pace. As the story progresses, it captures the thoughts and emotions of the characters perfectly and one feels to be in their shoes. The twists and turns which greet the story at various points keep us hooked and we are left with a special want for more. The two main characters and the other side characters develop  sin such a realistic way that one can clearly imagine them in  their own lives. The action scenes are good but even more are the unexpected shocks and twists and turns. This book is guaranteed to keep one hooked until the last page.
The plot keeps its aggressive pace as it prepares the background for its sequel City of Ashes.
I don't think this amazing story had any negatives for me (aside from becoming addictive) and on my list, this book is a must-read.
