i am a mba final year student.now doing my project in this topic.i dont have any idea  about this topic .i need to know what analysis am going to do in this topic.is that enough for past five year balance sheet alone ,orelse i need some other datas .give some idea about this.is that need past five year amc details in hotel.what are all the statistical tools and financial tools i have to implement in this project.these are all my doubt.please clarify anybody to me.within one month i have to finish my project and submit it to my college.so plesssssssss... help.i hope you help

neways i think for this project u wud need to conduct a primary study....
go to any hotel .... talk to the person in-charge of maintenance  .... and try to find the following ...

1) percentage of revenues spent on AMC
2) Total Sum spent for last 5 years on AMC
3) Most expensive component of AMC
4) Preventive vs Corrective maintenance cost ...
5) In-house maintenance vs AMC

i hope if u find these out then u'll have enuf data to complete ur project

i have not done any project on this topic .... nor seen any till now ...
anyways to answer ur questions ..
cost reduction basically imply that the overall ratio of revenues spent on maintenance decreases year-on-year.

so ask the Hotel managers to give u with the data on
1) Balance sheet - to knw the revenues
2) Total maintenance component of the cost of the hotel.
3) List of contractors hired in the past years with the Contract amount.

and see if there was any reductions in the cost. and also u can reccomend in ur report aboout the following
1) preventive vs Corrective maintenance cost ...
2) In-house maintenance vs AMC

i hope i have cleared ur doubts

thanks for ur reply , i have enough information through ur guidance.  i had done my summer project in share market in a survey modal basis, this is the first time to perform thrugh analysis modal. i want further guidance from you . after i receive the information from the hotel how should i start or proceed with the project analysis , i dont have proper guidance in my college as well as in the hotel so am following ur guidance , so kindly help me through the step by  step process which will  be a grate help for me and will also be a great experience for you, hope so. thanks
