Author Topic: Can't download files (Read 584 times)

I've been utilizing STP for a while now, but I just started noticing an issue. Whenever I download a file, I get a pop-up as usual asking if I want to save or open the file (Im on a PC). I always save the file. Well when I go to browse to it, they are showing up as strange unidentified files. One even ends in .part. I can't open any of these anywhere. I also noticed, on the pop-up where it askes if I want to open/save it tells me the type of file I am trying to download is a: application/octet-stream (-1 bytes).
Totally baffling to me. Anyone have any ideas??

Have you tried right clicking the file and selecting "save link as" instead? That's really the most fool proof way to it and it may work for you.

This happened to me after I've updated FF, I couldn't find a way to fix it, so I just installed the older version of FF. :S

No problem- i was going nuts for a while yesterday freaking out about it. I only use Firefox and had to switch to Safari after the update to FF 8 (ugh! not a fan of Safari) so I was so happy when I found a way to rollback to FF 7- of course, if you don't want to rollback there's a way to tweak FF8 so its not so annoying.
